Member-at-Large
Steve Levine
Steve is an Insurance agent with Purple Ink Insurance Agency, Inc. Steve has been "a teacher of sorts" for years, and his position with Purple Ink will allow him to continue to work with people, teaching them and helping them understand what their policy means -- whether it's auto, home, or business insurance.
Levine's career path has given him over 25 years of experience in sales management, customer service, and business development. He worked for six years serving business accounts at Sovereign Bank's largest branch in Boston and then in Framingham.
During his stint as Director of Corporate Development for the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce in 2001, his main focus was finding answers for large companies in the area. He also met with CEOs at big businesses to create interest in joining the Chamber.
A long-time Massachusetts resident, Steve says he was planning to retire until Nadine Heaps, president of Purple Ink Insurance, talked him out of it. Heaps knew that he loves working with people, and joining her company allowed him to continue doing that, just with more flexibility in his schedule.
Levine passed the test for his insurance license on his second try. He says it wasn't easy, but he is pleased with his accomplishment. He notes, "As you get older and reach retirement age, most people tend to slow down, but I am thrilled at getting the license to sell insurance and begin this new career." He says he feels alive and energized since making the decision to do it.
Purple Ink Insurance has an "Attitude of Gratitude" program that is something Steve and his wife Barbara also believe in. The company pledges a percentage of revenue to a charity or non-profit organization every month. This philosophy of giving back to the community really struck a chord with him. "Working with people who share the same desires, who want to enjoy life while continuing to work hard, is really important to me," he notes.
Steve grew up in New York City but moved to Massachusetts after graduating from Clarkson College. When not working, Steve can be found volunteering for many local organizations, playing with his grandchildren, or golfing.
